Split Out Card Type Tracking lets your store track POS card payments by card type, such as Debit, Visa, Mastercard, or custom options your store defines.
When enabled, Storepass changes the POS checkout Credit Card field label to Card and adds a required Card Type dropdown below it.
- Enable the feature from the Point of Sale Settings page.
- Manage the card type options staff can choose during checkout.
- Review selected card types on POS orders and till reports.
Before starting
Decide which card types your staff should track. Storepass starts with three default options: Debit, Visa, and Mastercard.
The default options can be edited or removed. If card type tracking is enabled, keep at least one card type option configured so staff can complete card payments.
Enable Split Out Card Type Tracking
Go to the Point of Sale Settings page and find the Payment Settings section.
- Turn on Turn on split out card type tracking.
- Review the Card Type Options list.
- Add, edit, or remove options as needed.
- Click Save Payment Settings or Save All Settings.
Manage card type options
The Card Type Options list controls what appears in the POS checkout dropdown.
- Debit, Visa, and Mastercard are included by default.
- Use Add a card type to create custom options.
- Use Remove to delete options your store does not need.
- Editing an option changes the label staff will see at checkout.
Use card type tracking during checkout
Go to the Point of Sale page and proceed to checkout.
When split out card type tracking is enabled, the Credit Card amount field is relabeled as Card. A Card Type dropdown appears below the Card amount field. The dropdown starts blank and does not choose a default option.
- Enter a card payment amount in the Card field.
- Select a Card Type from the dropdown.
- If using Stripe Terminal and multiple readers are available, choose the reader from the reader dropdown below.
- Complete checkout.
If a card amount is entered, Card Type is required. Storepass will not complete checkout until a card type is selected.
Review tracked card types
Completed POS sessions store the selected card type with the card tender. Storepass also includes the card type in POS order notes and staff logs when a card payment is used.
Use till and POS order pages to review card type information:
- The till detail page shows card payment totals and split-out card type totals.
- POS order tender details show the selected Card Type for individual orders.
After checkout
Card totals continue to count toward the normal Credit Card total. The selected card type is additional tracking data, so existing credit card reporting still works while stores can also review card totals by type.
